Mitts on the cheap

Mitts are good things to have but they can be expensive - I play rugby and bought a pair of Koo Ga stick mitts. They are 100% the same as cycling mitts, but are usually cheaper and the stick part is great. It's like a rubber mesh on the palm that grips things really well. Worth a look if you need 'em.

I've got multiple pairs of both rugby mitts and cycling mitts and they are totally different.

Rugby gloves just have rubber grips, cycling mitts have padding and no rubber grips.

I wouldn't use my rugby mitts for cycling as it's likely to start peeling the rubber off the gloves.

See the difference? The padding is more important for cycling than the grip.

I agree, I know what you're saying, I just mean for anyone who doesn't want to fork out for both sports - well they suit me anyway...

On the rugby side of things, its funny how rugby players can wear lycra undershorts and armour, and be looked on as heroes, yet cyclists wear lycra and are often criticised for it. And even worse, downhill bikers can wear suits of armour (fair enough if you fall off) but they're still cool! What is it with roadbikers....

Rugby players cover up all the lycra, cyclists don't. TBH I don't see the advantage of wearing rugby gloves on a bike, you don't need the grip and they don't have the padding. If you are so bothered about not spending money, don't wear any gloves on the bike and save the mitts for the rugby.

All that's going to happen is the grip is going to come off them anyway and then you'll have to fork out for another pair. I go through at least one pair of mitts for rugby every season. Proper cycling mitts will last far longer anyway.
