'General-purpose saddle'

I see the mag reckons that the new Fizik Gobi is the best 'general purpose saddle' on the market. But does anyone know what this means exactly? Is it saying that if you're a commuter who hits a lot of potholes, this is a good saddle? Or is it specifically talking from inside a mountain bike environment?
FWIW I commute 30 miles a day and sometimes go for longer rides on the weekend. Weight isn't really an issue. But London's imperfect roads are!

Fizik saddles may be great for some of the population - but gives the rest a numb nob.
Something from the Specialized range would be better. Maybe an Alias if you don't fancy something cut down and racy like a Toupe0 -

For out of box comfort go for a San Marco Rolls or a Selle Italia Turbomatic. Brooks are purely for masochists and those that don't leave their bikes in the rainMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

one of the Selle SMP range would always be my choice now - it really is the only design I have ever ridden that prevents (if I may borrow a phrase from earlier) numb nob
maybe the EXTRA for 'general use' whatever that is0 -
Another vote for he San Marco Rolls, a bit old fashioned looking but cheap and comfy. He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0

Don't rule out the deeply unfashionable, but amazingly comfy, Terry Liberator.0
