New Wheels

I've just taken delivery of an '08 Orange Crush. IMO one of the weak areas of the standard kit is the wheels.
I ride XC/ FR, and want something fairly tough. I was going to go for Hope Pro 2s with Mavic XM719 rims, but most places can't get Mavics in at the minute for some reason?
SO, what rims are the equivalent (or better) of the Mavics?

John - I too have an '08 Crush, have you been out on it yet?
It looks friggin' great doesn't it!?
Get some pics up.
And the wheels - I custom built mine and I have Mavic XM's on it.0 -
i've already got my 719 on pro II, merlin are great.0

OK, OK - it looks like Merlin have stock. I didn't mean to cause any panic!
My two LBSs & CRC dpn't have stock of certain Mavic rims, especially disc 'XM' serires. Doesn't look like they'll be getting any for several weeks, either!
Quick Q - on Merlin I'm given two options for the Hope Pro 2 hubs, either 135mm or 150mm disc? Not sure what this refers to or what I want/need? Can someone help?
Edit: Are the 135mm 32h, if so they're the ones I want.
GT - your bike looks schweet - in hindsight I probably should have done a custom build, some new h/bars, a seatpost & stem are already on their way to me. Now new wheels - lmao. What's the spec of yours?
I took it out for a little ride for a couple of hours on Sunday, just on some bridleways & woods near me. It's a nice ride, just got to go somewhere I can use it to it's full potential now.

The more hubs I look at the more confused I am!
So, (GT may know this one) what size hubs do I need for my bike? 135mm 32h QR?
Any help appreciated - & much needed!0 -

for the rear hub box i'm just putting 135mm disc hub. i presume they'd pick the right number of holes for the rim as the hope hub comes in 32 and 36 I think.0 -
How are you finding the Stroker Trails? I'm looking at getting some Rydes myself."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

So far so good. I've only been out on the bike twice (got it on Saturday). They have loads of feel & the levers are lovely to use. More than enough stopping power, too!
I've not used many disc brakes, but they beat Juicy 5s & Shimano XTs IMO.
Dirtbiker: They're the wheels I like the look of. I'm just not sure if 135mm is the right size for my frame, how do I check? :oops:0 -
You will need the 135mm hubs, the 150mm are only really fitted to proper DH bikes with wide 150mm spacing at the rear, the distance is between dropouts, all standard frames are 135, used to be 130 years ago so order 135mm.0
