HI, Any HAC5 users out there having problems? I have had mine about 13 months and generally a good tool, however I have had some probs with the Altitude and Ascent not recording sometimes when the battery eas low. Just recently the batt was reading 100% but for the last 3 rides I have just had intermittent info. Has anyone else had these probs and what sort of frequencey?
Cheers.

  • I use a HAC4 and so far its only the speed that occasionally stops recording. Usually because of poor sensor positioning. I think I'd send yours back whilst its still new. Sounds dodgy!
  • I have one which i also use as a cheapish watch (my other was a wedding present from my bro and too expensive to wear around the place). As such, it takes a bit of abuse and has stood up to it well so far , including having been dropped a couple of times.. It broke after a week and they replaced it without question, though it must have been some electronic malfunction as it went haywire when I changed the battery. i just wish I could use it properly.
1 How does one get the HRM to start recording? I just keep pressing buttons randomly until it does.
    2 WTF is alpine setting?
3 How does one get the powermetr and the gradient to work?

    1. Depending on the model, either press and hold bottom Left (BL) and top left (TL) or simply press BL and TL together. In either case the unit beeps once its going and the little "mountain" simbol flashes at about 1 Hz in the BL hand corner. To stop simple do the same again and the unit beeps and the symbol stops flashing. Easy!

    2. I live in Lincs so no idea but think its for skiing.

    3. If the unit is working correctly, then speed, gradient, power all become "live" once you set off. My later unit displays gradient in % and mts per km.

It becomes a lot easier once you've used it a few times!
  • Thankyou. The HRM bit was driving me mad.
