Shimano Alfine v Nexus Inter 8

Hi
has anyone got a bike with the new 8 speed Alfine rear hub ?

Any problems ? How does it compare with a Nexus Inter 8 hub ?

    We got rid of our Nexus hubbed Spesh Globe IG8 after 5 months.

    I found the gearing way too high and clunky.
    The Alfine would need to be a LOT better for me to even look at it.
    Two Stumpjumpers, a Rockhopper Disk and an old British Eagle.

    I don't have any experience of the Alfine. It depends with the Nexus. I'm in flat London and find it great for that, and for changing at traffic lights etc, and it makes it up short sharp hills on the lowest gear just fine (there are some hills in outer London!), but I've never tried it on anything more sustained. It's pretty fast on the flat.
