The video shows the Black Trail; from Snowdon View to North Shore Drop.

thanks for uploading the higher res version. i'm sick and tired of watching crappy youtube vids.

ignore this -> although it says 60mb and not 95 like you say...

    Cool vid.

Only problem with Llandegla is that video`s and pics never seem to be able to do it justice.

    Excellent trail though.

The camera used was a 520 helmet camera recording to a hard drive @ 720x576, 4Mbps.

What is the archos + camera option like. I was considering getting it.
  • Nice vid and looks a cool, swooping run but how can that possibly be graded black? I'm sure sure the camera doesn't exactly convey what it's like and I'm not going to claim that I'm some ace downhiller but that just did not appear at all technically challenging just fun to whiz through.

you're quite right. i did it in november and there wasn't really anything graded black on it as it was all easily rollable. most fun i've had on a trail though. certainly worth a visit.

  • That was fantastic. Just the good quality makes it so much better to watch!

So was that the black section that you highlighted on the map at the start? What % of the overall black run is on the vid? Was it the DH specific bit?

Also were you absolutely tonking it or just going steady, dunno about anyone else but when I watch vids like that I always think it looks slower than it probably was! I thought you were probably quicker than your mate in front (hopes that that wasn't you in front and he was using the camera!)

I particularly like the section that cuts across the fireroad. There was a bit near the end round a tree to the right side, I thought I saw a moment of panic!!!!

Inspired me even more to go to Llandegla

    Very good.

Nowhere does it say that the Black Run is meant to be a fast Downhill section with big jumps.

Watching the video back it does seems that the small jumps and hills are flattened out but I guess that’s a problem with the wide camera lens being mounted high up (my helmet). When I mount it on my bike it gives a much better sense of speed etc.

I was going quicker than average but not as aggressive a downhill rider. Also my chain kept slipping off the top ring which was annoying.

The black rated stuff is either small-medium size jumps or steep technical climbs.

There is also the element of a video making it look easier than it is. I see stuff from onboard snowboarders on the Extreme Sports Channel and think I could do that but would probably seriously injure myself trying.
  • The gradings are sometimes off - Anyone been to Stainburn? The black there kicks the hell out of the black on the vid. Are the gradings done by 1 controlling body, or whoever makes the course?

Two more videos of the other black sections.
I'm just cruising so not going fast etc

Looks a quality Trail..I need to get there!
  • Hey SDK< what codecs do i need to play the high res one? Windows media player is having a spaz!

    thanks
  • divx i think...
if you can't find the codec (its v popular) then download the VLC (videolan codec) media player. it will play every video you can find, well absolutely loads and loads, and is very trustworthy unlike some other free media players.

    divx website download: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/
    VLC website: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
