I just got back from my first day's work experience at my LBS. I've had so much fun and hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will be able to learn how to fix my own bike instead of coming on here and asking you guys! There is also the possibility of me getting a prt time job there, which will provide more money for me to waste on my bike.

bike shops are ace to work in, im working at alpine bikes, inverness. always have a sense of humour when your there, dont take anything personally and always always make tea and coffee

your there to learn and their there to teach you the things you need to know but just have a laugh and see what happens, if you do everything they want and do some things without been asked ie cleaning, making drinks and offering to get lunch, you might be in with a good chance, i was and hey i got a job

Yeah the guys woring there have a great sense of humour. I'm having quite the opposite happen to me Bikedevil - I'm bringing my bike in to use all of their fancy tools and supplies. Built up a BMX for the shop floor today - those gyros are a fiddly pain in the ars*!

Shiftng bikes in the warehouse - just my luck that we got a delivery of crappy Raleighs. Some of them had a gross weight of 23.5kgs! They weren't even cheapo full sussers - some imitaion DJ bikes with thick hi-ten frames and stupidly thick "tough looking" forks.

  • Blackspur - you working at CycleSportUK or the one on Wharf Road??

I used to work on the bike section of Halfords during my A-Levels, and my brother used to work at CycleSportUK.

When he worked at CSUK, I used to spend soo much time in the workshop...constantly fixing up my bike using the tools there!!

I'm at Cycle Sport - Richardson's is not nearly as good IMHO, and it's a far smaller business. I got my work ex there cause it was on our list, but i asked really nicely and got to see the list before everyone else, so I was able to pick the best job!

  • Not cool. did that ozzie guy say they got paid for work experience? and he was complaining! In england we don't get paid at all! hows that for slave labour.
