GPS for cycles?

Hi everyone,

Is there such a thing as a SatNav cycle route? I travel alot when working and I visit friends over the weekend and I would love a small gadget that would allow me to input a postcode or roadname and it automatically works out the best cycle route to get there without having to keep searching through maps. I did my first cross London cycle the other week and I had to keep stopping to check the route on my A-to-Z and it kinda ruins the experience.

I found this page
http://www.outdoorgb.com/c/cycle_gps/
but do any of these models actually tell you where to turn (like the TomTom does) or does it point to the general direction? I like the wrist one (very StarTrek!).

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I quite often use a Garmin eTrex Vista Cx to find my way around, it has a bicycle mode and can do route planning internally in the GPS. It has a bicycle mode, and seems to know some bicycle only routes. I like the GPS, it's been very useful and is easy to use.

To be honest though, I rarely use cycle lanes/paths, and tend to cycle on roads whether or not I'm using the GPS. Roads are better, safer, and faster.
