i can't remember which bike shop it was, but they'd happily send one of the lads out to ride the bike down a muddy trail to make it look like it was second hand or used and thus not a new bike giving the option of

Just explain that collecting bikes is essential for your mid-life crisis* & would she prefer that you ran off with an 18 year old yoga instructor
* A particularly early or late one if you can't quite stretch to middle age0 -
