Anybody any experience of these. Have scoured google looking for info and any user reviews without much luck. Spec looks good and I've been offered a 6mth old riden just 5 times??? model for £400. It's a fair drive to have a look but wary of buying without trying. Nearest stockist to me is Chester Halfords and i'm not sure they'd let me give it a bash round chester.

I agree the spec looks excellent value for money and the bikes certainly look the part in the shop but sorry I've got no practical experience either.

That said the mid range Carrera's still get good reviews so there's no reason to suspect the Boardman range is going to be any different. I think sometimes Halfords customer service gets some stick and therefore people associate that with their bikes too but I've had mixed experiences with their stores. One crap but the other one having two or three enthusiasts working there who can't do enough to help you.

I've ridden one & it's a nice bike, worth £400 for sure if it's in great condition. Has quality components throughout, feels really smooth & is a good weight.

i work in a halfords that has no stock of the bordmans, but we are trying to get hold of one because everyone in the bikehut would really like a go on one. I would have to say that the bordmans were of a better value for money then the carrera's.

I've had a Boardman Comp for six months now and it's been great, very good spec and good quality for the £'s....It got me hooked on MTBing it was my first MTB and a good ride. There seems to be a bit of brand snobbery out there but I found the bike to be be very good and Halfords service to be OK no worse than a lot of other outlets I've dealt with. I recomend you give one a go, they are light and pretty qick.

I've had my Boardman Comp for a few weeks and it's a really nice bike, I've ordered a new saddle though, the standard one is not great.

The bike weigh in at around 27-28lbs (taken from bathroom weighing scales), so OK compared to others in the £600 range. Slightly (500g - 1Kg) heavier than my rigid 1996 GT Karakorum. The spec is very good for the price,

Your certainly not the first to change the saddle, I changed mine out for a Charge Spoon much more comfortable and only £20. I've noticed on a few posts that the only things that get the thumbs down from people who have actually ridden one is the saddle and in some instances the legnth of the stem could be a little shorter , the rest give pretty good reviews

Collected my bike yesterday, got an 18" Boardman team with a few bits an bobs thrown in like mini pump an mud guards for £380. Bike is absolutely spotless. Seller wasn't lying when he said he's rode it to the shop 5 times since August. Spec is pretty decent so just gonna get me some spd pedals an shoes as the ones on it aint the best an I'm ready to hit the road/xc/singletrack/hills

I'll be back for advice on a regular basis no doubt.

    cheers everyone[/url]
