Record/Chorus compatability?

Can anyone advise me whether there would be any compatability issues if I was to replace a Chorus crankset with a Record crankset? The present Chorus is a 30/42/53 triple and the Record would be a 30/40/50 triple; both are the 2006 models.

Thanks.

There shouldn't be a problem. Are you getting a new BB with it? I'd imagine if both chainsets are from the same generation, the BB should be fine. If not the same generation, I check that the axle length of the BB is correct that you already have.

You may need to change the length of your chain, and lower the front derailler slightly though.

    No problems whatsoever.
  • Many thanks. I'm sure the BB will be fine as they're both from the same generation (at least that's what I'm hoping!!)

  • Assuming they both use the same type of bottom bracket ( i think 2006 is pre ultra torque so that should be the old square tapered type) then none whatsoever.

You'll probalby have to readjust your front mech to allow for the slightly smaller big ring but other than that it should be a straight swap.
