  • you could try liners? i use dhb waterproofs -£17 from wiggle most days - whens its really cold i just put some liner gloves on first - nice n toasty....
  • Hi,

first time to post on a forum so hoping it comes out OK.

I feel qualified to answer this one - I live in Helsinki, commute every day, and I get colder hands than anyone else I know.

Mittens will solve the cold finger problem. I've got about 10 pairs of gloves (and liners) that have been tried and rejected, and so far the only solution to come close is some reasonably decent (€20) mittens. When the temperature is below -10 or so, I'm not really out to enjoy a day in the saddle, so I can accept that there is less control on the bars and brakes and I manage to keep the speed well under control.

    Cheers!

I bought Assos 851 Airblock gloves recently and they are very good. This is a change as all Assos gloves I have owned in the past have been absolute rubbish.

As forumers have said, one pair of gloves isn't going to cover all eventualities. Some thin liners gloves, a decent pair of full fingered gloves and finally a pair of 'lobster mittens' are what are required to cover everything.

I've got some Spesh Neoprene gloves, best gloves I've had for cycling. Only negative is that they seem to smell funny.

Castelli Nano. They keep my hands warm when my feet are freezing. Fantastic gloves and not bulky either. So good I'm taking them skiing.

I have a pair of Specialized Radiant '08 gloves, which are fully water and wind proof. I wear a liner with them when it's really cold like this morning.

I have the 07 version from a sale - I find them amazingly toasty even on really cold days... Through the autumn though I just had liner gloves under (crap otherwise) lizard skin gloves.

I like the pervey neoprene ones though!

ETA the Lizard Skins gloves are otherwise awful awful awful, but are a cool orange colour. Must get new ones for spring.

My hands froze in them this morning, far too cold for them, but good enough for most of the winter.

Seconded. I bought these before getting back on a bike for the first time in ten years. I've since been completely bemused by the idea that people's hands could be too cold -- not in a pair of these they won't be! Too hot if anything.
  • I also recently got a pair of vulcanos. They're great, although for me my hands were still a little cold this morning but not freezing so I think they're enough for year round.

Toastie warm and lots of control. Even without liners. Good long cuffs too, so no cold wrists.
It's not the winning or even taking part. It's the arsing about that counts.
