I'm relatively new to mountain biking (about a year now) I have been riding a saracen mantra for the last year and am pretty happy with it, but a few things are narking me about it, mainly the weight, it has no rear suspension and the gears can be unreliable as well as the brakes. I had my eye set on a muddyfox drift, but after reading some reviews on it I'm not so sure, so to sum up I am looking for
full suspension
hydrolic brakes (not a must but a bonus)
less weight than my mantra
I have a budget of £1000 what can you reccomend?

I think pretty much everything will be the lighter than the mantra
A few that are worth a look:

What sort of riding do you do? Trail centres, general cross country etc? Paul's cycles also have a Giant Anthem for under a grand, it's a great bike and ways much, much less than your current one, but might not be suitable for you depending what riding you do.0 -
well when i first started riding I did a lot of road riding, but for the past 9 months or so I've been spending a lot of time on the dirt roads where I live, I live a few miles from hamsterley forest and have spent a lot of time riding round the red & black trails routes, I have done very little proper cross sountry riding becuase my bike seems too heavy for that to be honest0

Yes, the Mantra is not a good one for all day riding. Best to test a few if you can. For grand I'd look at:
GT Idrive XCR (from Halfords) - tough full susser, superb value
Giant Trance
Trek Fuel 5.5
Specialized FSR XC0 -

I have looked at all of the suggested bikes, I gotta say out of the lot I particularlylike the trek 5.5 & the trek 7, can anybody tell me out of the two, which one has the upperhand spec-wise. I also found this bike in my searches, how does this compare to the rest http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... Bud%2020080

if your riding around on roads and dirt all day are you sure you want a full sus bike. going up hill will be a nightmare on full sus.0
