Well, I got 1 bottle wine, 1 bottle cheap fizz and 4 bottles beer at Tesco (sorry! but for experiment needed a shop at the bottom of a steep hill). Took it home in a rucksack.

Am off to a dinner at a friend's house with that lot.

Will do the same, but with panniers on saturday, and let you know the difference in the morning on monday. Any unusual symptoms (ie hangovers) will be reported sooner.

Did it again last night (with panniers). Felt fine til this morning! Crawled into work a half hour late and mumbled 'tram. tram roadworks" at people before doing no work til after lunch.

So, scientifically, panniers make you feel worse. SCIENCE.

Am now mooching round house, feeling a bit crap - there's a half bottle wine in fridge... Hmm...

You better hope nobody from work reads this.

Glad you wrote this, reminded me of the half bottle I have left.
  • I must be missing the point although afew glasses wouldn't go amiss but how much of an ill effect would constant use of a rucksack have whilst riding a road bike ?
