There's some info on Tritalk and a clarification of the situation by planet-x:

Sounds like they are cutting their nose of to spite their face IMHO, but doesn't suprise me and I'd probably do the same if it was my busienss

Suggest you look at other bikes, or wait / hope it all comes out in the wash.

Convince your employer to work through cyclescheme. It gives you a better choice of shops and encourages competition and good service.

Interesting to note from that thread that Planet-X are now doing Cyclescheme, previously they wouldn't (I guess they probably felt compelled to offer exclusivity to Halfords). For many this will now be good news.
  • Looks all back on with us and halfords - not only that but onwards and upwards were working on better specs and improved service .

Were currenty squeezing every last ounce of fat out of the 99 carbon and touch wood theres going to be an major upspec to drivetrain and tyres .

It's good news, but just think of the people who went and selected a different bike because they couldn't have a P-X.

If that Spec with DA is available outside the scheme, I'll really consider getting one summer of 2009 (if they are still available).

I know, but I'm starting to re-evaluate my views on concealed cables after having trouble my Campag cables to be at a nice length and look tidy.

RDraggon in Shimano praise shocker... Well I never...... Next you'll be saying you like MotoGP

I think I need to sit down.........

Back on topic, be interested to see what the PlanetX drivetrain upgrade is.....

I've never been anti-Shimano. It's that at the various prices points eg Ultegra V Centaur and DA v Chorus, Campag wins. But If I can get a bike for less than £1000 with top level groupset (part of), I'd be happy.

I would rather watch people in leather at 200mph, than people in lycra at 20mph! Nothing wrong with a bit of "fossil fuel burninig fun" on a Sunday afternoon. After all, my Ducati is the mutts and my Ambrosio (soon to be Focus Culebro) does the chores!
