Does anyone know how much bike weight affects relative perfomance - Speed / Uphill performance.

One bike I'm looking at is 28.5 lbs the other is 26.9 lbs (oops!)

Obviously the lighter bike is more expensive - with better components - the lesser is no slacker either - but would it be worth paying the premium ?

I weigh about 85kg with a target weight of 80Kg

???????????

I know that light wheels and tyres increase accelaration.

I would assume that a lighter bike would overall feel quicker and more agile.

are you sure its 28.5kg? Do you mean 28.5 pounds? The ligher bike will be faster on the climbs but you have to take the spec into account to guage performance, ie suspension.

Can you link to the 2 bikes?
