Hi, could you reccomend me some flat pedals for xc and am.
They need to be light and grippy but strong. Budget of up to abut £30.

Try this brand for something different,http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Brands.aspx?BrandID=557
I've had a pair for over a year now and they seem as good if not better than dmr's

Wellgo MG1's are about £30 on ebay and mine have been superb so far.
Very light too.0 -
Outland Mags :!:
Magnesium Alloy pedals, sealed bearings, mega grippy and nice and light, can't fault mine

Wellgo make the V8! The Wellgo V8 copy (with pins) uses the same bearings.
Wellgo MG1 is the obvious choice here. I dont see the point in getting DMR when you can get the same for less.0 -

have you read all the negative reviews on crc???i ride a hardtail0 -
It has to be the proper 'copy', not the studded version or any from VP or other brands. As I say, Wellgo make all of DMRs pedals, and they use the same parts in their own range, obv.0

these right??

as opposped to these, ave rating 4.2. nuff said.i ride a hardtail0 -
So if they use the same axles and bearings... why do one fail quicker than the other? Is it really worth paying 10 quid more to get a 10p tube of grease?0
-
the axles and cage look different to me...
the fact that all over the country ive seen people rifing v8's almost exclusively, availabilty of spares, the fact the cage is a registered design (according to the box)...i ride a hardtail0 -
Yes... and I dont think they all refer to the genuine V8 copy, as there are many 'copies'. Go to mtbr.com and read the reviews on the DMR v12 and the MG1 - the latter scores 0.6 higher too... what do you summise from that?0

Cage is slightly different, DMR wanted a new design to make it look 'better' than a Wellgo. That has no bearing (pardon the pun) on bearings. Spares are available from DMR, who get them from Wellgo, who make them.0 -
why doesnt everyone use them??? i bet more dmrs are sold than wellgosi ride a hardtail0
-
BS! How about a review from someone who knows what they talking about?

again, i have never ridden with someone who on wellgos, dmr all the way!!! from cleethorpes to salford to newquay, and everywhere else. design classic, easily the best value pedal. have you ever heard someone say they swear by the wellgos???i ride a hardtail0

Lol, many people use the Wellgo V8 copy, and the Mg1 which now has many fans. Search this forum for all the comments, not just me! Yeah, it is a design 'classic' - the shape was ripped off from the Shimano DX, then they get Wellgo to make them!
In the end, if you like them, then ride them. All I am pointing out is that the 'genuine copy', as daft as that sounds, is nigh on identical to the V8 bar a couple of cosmetic changes. I used to sell the things!0 -
vaguely intesting:

fair point on the dxs being the "original" original.i ride a hardtail0 -
Like the comment on bear traps! Have a set on my idrive:
They genuinely do eat your trainers! But great grip, and as you can see, have had a battering. 9 years old!0 -
these pedals genuinely scare me:
i ride a hardtail0 -
Is that the Shin Burger?!
I'll have to post a pic of my shin up, and the scars. 23 at last count ;-)0 -

also i think the dmr v8 are sealed bearings, were as the wellgo copy is not. but if you have the money magnesium is the way to go0 -
Aye, they have caused a few dents!
The bearings are sealed in both, but not 'cartridge'. Only the V12 and MG1 get the cartridge bearings. I think with any cup and cone bearing, the key is maintenance - they can be fiddley though! lots of waterproof grease.0
