17-24 Feb - Tour of California

First race of the new PTP season. If the UCI can go to Australia, why can't we have California? Who knows, maybe next year we'll have the Tour of Russia in our calendar?

Anyway, it's been a good race in it's brief history, has a challenging parcours and attracts some high quality riders.

For those new to PTP, take a look at the main thread:

http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12558654

Startlist (not complete yet):

http://startlist.cyclingfever.com/start ... t&id=18451

Stage details:

The race is live on cycling.tv or text commentary from all the usual sources.

Please post your GC picks BEFORE the race starts. You don't have to post your stage picks all at once, but they must be in before the start of the stage.

Good luck!

    Overall : Levi Leipheimer

    Prologue : Cancellera
    Stage 1: Ciolek
    Stage 2 : Boonen
    Stage 3 : Danielson
Stage 4 : Hamilton (what the hey)
    Stage 5 : Millar
    Stage 6 : Levi
    Stage 7 : Bettini

I'll probably end up getting a big fat doughnut on this one, but whatever. I've even managed to swallow my disgust and put a few High Horse riders down!

Edit : Afx - If Tyler H. doesn't start, put me down for Tommy D instead for Stage 4. May as well go for someone with a decent doctor!

Slightly confused when reading stage descriptions from the linked-to site.

    Stage one:
The first mass start stage of the 2008 Amgen Tour of California
    Stage two:
The first mass start stage of the 2008 Amgen Tour of California
    Huh?

If the right rider from the right team doesn't win the first stage, they run it again until they get the correct result. It's all the rage with tour organisers!

    Prologue: Fabian 'the chin' Cancellara

Iain and Richard why have you picked every stage winner already? Are you guys on holiday next week - or is picking winners in the first race a bit like pin the tail on the donkey you reckon?

I'm keeping my powder dry and picking one stage at a time.

Afx - the calendar and scoring looks awesome. Good luck with scoring and keeping us muppets under control! Are you going to do the spreadsheet scoring during stage races again?

Holiday for me. I'd like to be able to do it more seriously but I think Mrs Iainf72 would not be best pleased if I kept heading off to check t'internet. :o

She probably has enough issues dealing with your complex!

Ahh, I'd forgotten that was my signature.

PS - have a good holiday! Getting some winter sun?

    :lol::lol::lol:

I've picked them early 'cos I'm starting a new job next week, so might not be online very much &, TBH, am a bit crap at this, so stand as much chance of points either way... (ie, very little)
