nutter! I'm scared of heights so would hate it. Did you enjoy it though?

Remember those bar bungee things? Strap elastic around yourself and then run towards the bar full of beer, grab your pint and then the elastic kicks in and drags you back with beer all over you. (I may have made that up - can't quite remember). Wouldn't it be fun to do it on a bike - yes, you'd certainly injure yourself and would have to be a bit p!ssed to even attempt it but it would be a laugh. God I'm bored.

You never said when you spoke to me today! Well done - you idiot.

A mutual friend of ours did one in New Zealand when we were touring there in 1999. I think it cost about £70. I don't think it was enough. I'd want something like £1,000 at least before I'd do one :D

Nice one, it's a massive buzz isn't it.

Going to steal your thunder here I'm afraid

If you look closely I'm at the bottom of this Bloukrantz Bridge in SA, the biggest fixed jump in the world...

more recently I did a wet jump in NZ at the original site where it all kicked off. It was a walk in the park compared to my first jump

  • You mean a bit like this? Just a few secs before I was sitting in a plane at 12,000ft thinking how mental was I - the next thing I know I'm lovin' every second of it...enough to spend a couple of weeks (and more than a few quid) in Florida throwing myself out of planes trying to get a licence!!!

Blow that for a game of soldiers! I'll continue to do my flying with my feet firmly on the ground. I prefer walking towards my crashes rather than being carried from them.

You know, life is really quite exciting enough for me without throwing myself off a bridge or a crane or out of an aeroplane. I just don't think I'd ever, EVER want to do anything like that. It's really quite nice being a wuss.

Aye that's me. But it's a few years since I ran that Audax. Since then I've handed it on to a clubmate who has built it up into a very big event in the last 5 years or so - we get about 400 riders taking part now. June 15th this year if you're interested. Meanwhile, I ran our February 100km Audax events for a couple of years and now I've handed those on and have taken on our classic Beacon Little Mountain TT: http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/open_races/lmtt/index.html

How about some of you DMRC folks coming and riding that? I see Andy Eagers and Jim Hopper about from time to time but I'm not sure we've had any of the DMRC riding the Little Mountain in recent years.
