Anyone had experience of these? The blurb says they have the contact area of a 23c with the cushioning advantages of a 25c. Is this just hype or do they do the job?

dunno, but I am usually impressed with Specialized design, sounds like an interesting idea.

Can't speak for the specialized, but my experience with 25mm tyres is that they do soak up more of the road and run as fast as a 23mm.
  • I am definitely committed to going the 25c route, just looking at the options. Saw these were fitted to the Specialized Roubaix in this weeks Cycling Weekly bike group test and thought these may be another tyre worth considering.

I use them and think they're great for long rides. Especially the S-Works version:

I have been running them for over 1 thousand miles on my Roubaix without any punctures, the tyre is good in the wet and fast but not as grippy and fast as the GP4000 but far better puncture proof.

In my experience the roubaix tyres are more comfy and puncture proof than any another tyre I have used as long as you get the armadillo ones.

I used these on a 5000km tour round France. Used them because a combination of comfort and quckness. Needed to replace back midway round in the Pyrenees front lasted all the way. Handled/gripped in wet/dry/fast descents despite extra luggage load.

Got a few punctures and because of this if doing the same thing again I might look to see if I could get something a bit tougher. Still could just be bad luck, I went 1500km before getting first puncture but later on one bad day got four in a day.
