LX Shifters meh!

Is it me or the LX shifters a bit meh?

They seem a bit clunky for XC

Need something a bit more quick. Been looking at the 10/10 XTR but really expensive has anyone got a pair. are they worth it.

Plus my index finger is on the grips and brakes. but the LX shiters are there as well and found myself hitting the shifters.

What is you opinion?

    sounds like most Shimano shifters.

    Get some 08 XT's. Fantastic shifters, and with the 2 way release you can change up with finger or thumb. I think the general concencuss is that the XTR's are only slightely better than XT and not worth DOUBLE the money, although i can imagine the multi release could come in handy. All depends how much you want to spend.

    Yeh

    Dont really want to spend 100.00 on XTR

    If Xt is the way to go will look into it.

    Im really new, how do I know which speed I need?

    Got a LX hollowtech crank as well.

    LX is good, in sense - reliable kit however I could never get on with the shifters - feel awful and clunky..

    The rest of the groupset is not too bad at all - and the cranks are damn good for the money.

    XT is the way forward for you - I have XTR on another bike and although it's lush - it's not worth it unless you're running a bike where you are trying to save weight.

    XTR lasts forever though!

    Its going on the Focus Super Bud.

    Just counted the rear and looks like a 9 speed, so probaly switching to xt or something.

    And I am a weight freak, but not that much to spend double the money to save a few grams.

    Money is not a problem, but do not want to buy something that I can get for half the price which almost the same thing, you know what im saying.

    New 08 XT or howabouts SRAM X9?

    Merlin cycles were selling the rear mech and shifters for £79.99

    I've got LX shifters on the frame i've just built up...the bike is so silent and smooth, tbh the shifters do let it down!! :lol:

    Should have dipped deeper into the pockets and plumped for the XT shifters!
