  • I wear a mx helmet when doing dh.

Why? well - when i bought it i didnt know there was a differance.

And? well - The main differance is its heavier than some lighter mtb full face helmets.

But... well - It fits like a glove, and i feel offers more protection around the face. I think mtb helmets tend to be more open around the front.

Next time... I'll more than likely try to get a decent mtb specific helmet. Around £100 or so. (assuming it fits as well)

Mtb helmets are lighter but not as strong.

I would imagine a mtb specific one has more ventilation than an mx one too

With motorbike you are going a lot more faster than a bike so the helmets should be a lot more stiffer because the fall is much harder. And also with motorbike you are jumping higher and bigger distance.

I forgot something. The motorcross helmets must be stiffer just in case your motorbike falls on top of your head.
