Can you use lock on grips with grip shifts?

Hi,
On my commuting bike, I have SRAM grip shifts. The grips currently on the bike are shorter to fit next to these but I really am not getting on with them.
Can anyone let me know if you can buy shorter lock on grips or if you can cut down normal lock ons and refit the collars? I can't shift the grip shift along the handlebars either as the commute bike has super skinny width bars.
I want to be able to run grips I feel comfortable with on the commuter so any help would be welcome.
Thanks!!
Adam

i think ergon do some lock-ons that are supposed to be very comfy, and fit to gripshifters.0

thanks. Trouble is, I'm a creature of habit and the proper bikes have ODI's (mostly ruffians).
Not sure want to spend ergon money or would like them as much. Any idea as to what to do?Trek 8500 w/ Singlespeed Conversion - http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1697041/

so why not just buy ODI's for gripshifts? they do a 90mm length one for this reason."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Nick,
Sorry, I'm a bit of a retard when it comes to this stuff. Do you have a link or who would stock these?
Cheers
Adam
