Just wondered whether people are sill interested in high quality tub wheels, handbuilt around quality components, or do you just go for he latest fad wheelset from Mavic/Campag/Fulcrum etc.
Interested in your views, and see my link below if you are interested in some I might let go from my collection

a lot of lads still use tubs ( partic in TT & Track )
a few still use handbuilt wheels as well ...mainly for track league etc where discs etc stay safely tucked away :-)0 -
I still ride them. One thing I have noticed on these forums is that people talk about
all these so called "high end" wheels for sale out there and their aero aspects
and low weight then go out and buy clinchers. Then they covince themselves that
because they spent tons of money that they now have "high end" wheels. Also
I don't know if you have noticed all the entries from people who can't even get
their clinchers mounted on these wheels. Almost makes glue sound good. Then
they cry about pinch flats, tires not seating on the rim, broken tire levers, and it
goes on and on. I tried them years ago. Had a front flat going downhill at a fair rate of
speed. Tire came right off the rim and made for some really dicey stopping and steering.
Not to mention the tire geting tangled in the spokes. Never again. I will admitt to using
"Tufo" tubular clinchers though. Like tubies, at least they stay on the rim when flat.

I use both
there are three main advantages of tubs IMO - the one dennis has identified with slower release of air from a tub meaning less likely to crash if punctured, they corner considerably better, and they allow a lighter system weight ... with less weight at the periphery. all considerable advantages.
clinchers have their plusses too ... they are cheaper, faster, and by far the biggest advantage more practical ... i spare tube and a patch kit weighs far less than a spare tub but will fix far more punctures!0 -
All agreed, so can I tempt any of you with my ones for sale in my other thread??!!0
