Calling all riders from Northern Ireland!
TOUGH ROUTE ANNOUNCED FOR NEW PHOENIX SPORTIVE
Aiming for a balance between hard climbs and a touring spectacle, a tough route for the 18th May Phoenix Sportive has been unveiled by the event organisers and should provide a challenge for both club and leisure cyclists.
Two routes with several significant climbs over beautiful Antrim countryside awaits the riders of this premier class sportive event. The routes will challenge the fittest and delight those who enjoy going through the pain barrier.
The sportive event begins at the Lamgh Derg GAA Club, near Divis Mountian, on Sunday May 18th with a choice of 2 routes. The first route will take the riders on 100 kilometre stage out towards parkgate, Kells and Shanes Hill and back towards Carnmoney and finishing on the 1 in 4 climb on the top of the the spectacular climb to the old military base on the top of Divis.
The 2nd route will take the 160km route which will take in Kells, Shanes Hill, Larne, Islandmagee and come back over Glenoe to finnish again on the top of the Divis mountain. Two category three climbs await at Tardree and Shanes Hill, with the Category one climbs at Glenoe and Divis to do significant damage at the end.

1 – Lamgh Derg – Nutts corner – Killead roundabout
2 – Killead roundabout – Templepatrick and Parkgate
3 – Parkgate – Tardree - Kells
4 – Kells - A36 – Shaneshill
5 – Shaneshill –Larne
6 – Larne - Islandmagee
7 – Islandmagee – Ballycarry - Glenoe
8 – Glenoe – Straid#
9 - Straid to Mossely
10 - Mossley – Hightown
11 - Hightown - Divis
# Note the 100km route will go from Shaneshill straight to Straid on return.
