Hi,
I am looking to buy a 24" bike for my (tall) 8-year old boy. I would like to spend < £200 (& less if possible). It will be used for general recreational use - road, track and sometimes off the beaten track.
He would like a full suspension bike like his brother but this seems rather heavy for someone of his age. I have considered these bikes:-

GT Palomar 24 2008
Mongoose Rockadile AL 24 Boys 2008
Specialized Hotrock 21-speed

and 2 dual-suspension bikes:-
Dawes Ruction 2008
Giant MTX 225 DS

Are these all ok as a first 'decent' bike. Which would anyone choose and are there others I should consider.

Thanks

Have a look at the Islabike website.

    They get great reviews.

Thanks folks. I agree that the Islabikes look great but I'm afraid that peer/sibling pressure means that my son will require a full 18/21 gears.

The Focus bike from Wiggle looks ok - anyone got any experience of this? Is it really as good as the 'big' brands?
