Shimano Disc Brakes M485

Hi all
I have a GT avalance expert 2008. The instructions which came with the bike states the brake calpier is a M485. Problem is the pads which came with it are ASH991 which fit a mechincal brake where as the M485 is Hydroilic.
Is there anyway I check check my caliper is a M485 (would there be a number on it as I can see nothing ?
