Help save my shins

Hope you can help here, I'm a recent convert to flat pedals - and I'm really loving riding with them in the mud - but my shins have been taking a bit of a pounding from the pins.

I don't want to ride everywhere with my full-on knee and shin pads on, so can anyone recommend a lighter set of shin pads (or alternative solution) to stop me tenderising my flesh?

Try some 661 Veggie shin guards, the knee guards are great

Nice lateral thinking there, but then I'll probably lose teeth instead - as I changed to flats because I was falling off too much in the mud.

Steve - I'll check those out, thanks. I have their Race knee/shin guards and they're pretty good (but comically large).

    Yeah, those Veggies look good!
  • If it's just something simple, pop down to the local sports shop and get some cheap footie or hockey shin pads. Not super cool, but they'll disappear inside a big pair of socks, and they're lightweight and simple! Just a suggestion!
