Hi,

This is a replacement wheel thread but rather that a generic "which wheel is best" meander through the wheel market there are some specific wheels below and I am looking for the experiences of riders of a similar weight to me.

So if you are above 90 kg (I am 96 kg) and have ridden with any of the wheelsets below, I would value your opinion. I am particularly interested in your thoughts on durability, comfort and stiffness.

Primary use will be for going up the alps in may and then Sunday best and sportives afterwards.

Campag neutron ultras

Fulcrum racing 3s

DT Swiss 1450 mon chasserale

Ksyrium elites

Thanks Stuart

p.s. I have decided not to go with handbuilts - I cannot give you a good reason just because

Shame about the handbuilts - if you asked Paul Hewitt he would recommend and build the best wheels for your needs. Probably wouldn't cost you any (or much) more either, and they would be long lasting and fully serviceable.

Good luck in your quest.... I'd be on wheels I'd built, but within factory wheels, a buddy of mine who is a 100kg match sprinter has so far (2 years of road use) failed to break his Fulcrum 3's so you could have a go with them?

i think my initial comment on handbuilts is a little misleading the post was put up in haste. Research on the forums reveals what a hand built wheel will give you. I intend to have conversations with the normal luminaries mentioned hear to see what they recommend.

More accurately perhaps is that within this thread I am looking for specific views on factory wheels and didn't want it to go into a "handbuilt vs factory discussion"

The finally buying decision will be made once I have decided my preferred factory wheel and then compared to the merits of hand builts.

Just trying to keep the thread focussed and get some useful info from the collective wisdom of the forum

neutrons..but check camapg warranty re weight limit ...some of there wheels used to be 85kg

but as you are heavy , check avaialabilty of spare spokes ( & take a few with you in alps - taped to seatstay )

& learn how to put one in & true it is need be ...

its where handbuilts win every time ...
