Annoying clicking
I own a Trek 1000 and recently as I'm riding at the same point of each turn of the pedals (Shimano SPD's) there is a loud and annoying click. I've had a good look but nothing is obvious and it only happens after I've been riding for 15 miles ish +. The cleats are clean and tightly secured. Anyone got any ideas? Bottom bracket? Pedals?

Hmmm, I recently replaced some pedals over this, it turned out the pedals were fine just one was loose in the crank arm. Other common culprits are chainring bolts being loose, crank bolts, bottom bracket, seat post clamp, even handlebars / stem. You can narrow things down sometimes by pedalling one footed on either side, pedalling out of the seat, or riding with little weight on the handlebars. Is the noise on one side or both?
I had a similar problem, and realised precisely what the fault was when my crank arm came away from the BB mid ride.
Quite an unnerving feeling, trying to keep your balance whist the arm is still attached to your shoe....0 -
It seems as if its when the left cranks goes over the top.0

A less obvious one is chain !!!! I checked changed pedals, bb and chainset between bikes, then went out, sprinted off froma junction and chain snapped !!!0

Happened to a friend of mine in January, he was going down hill 1t about 30mph and I was tucked on his tail... nearly did for both of us but he made an heroic recovery. Check all bolts are tight!- 2023 Vielo V+1
