I'm looking to buy a road bike, have about £900 to to spend and travel about 100 miles per week minimum. I also weigh 16.5 stone. please help

    As far as I know, Cannondale are the only manufcturer who give a guarantee on their frames without limitations on rider weight. You should be able to get a Cannondale Synapse for that money which gets good reviews.

  • I'm 16 stone and ride a Planet X ultralight procarbon without a problem.

    Depends on your power.

    I would stick with 7005 alloy / Trek aluminium or similar manufacturer which offers a lifetime guarantee on their aluminium frames.

  • It's not the frame you have to worry about. It's the seat post then the back wheel that will go first. However you should be fine at that weight. Don't use a carbon frame or seatpost, carbon forks are fine. Make sure you back wheel is a srong one, 32 spoke maybe? Either hand built to your needs or a Mavic Askium.
