nice frame, I have one, but its the same frame (apart from some slightly different angles) to the Higher spec B-17 and the top spec Rocky Ridge, so there's no point in him getting one! lol

Kinesis Pha5e? Or a Maxlight XC1200

i've looked at the pha5e, i really like, but i cant stretch my budget that far. i am willing to go second hand, got at most 200 pounds for a frame.0

The Saracen zen 2 - awesome - direct competitor to the b17.
Marin & Saracen pretty much invented the concept of agressive xc bikes, saracen with the zen series and marin with b17/rockyridge.
Orange crush - 150mm travel?

Steel or alu frame?0 -
Na dont need the Crush go and try the Orange 5 AM
What i have
Or the Orange 5 Pro

Both can be used as true allrounders0 -
go second hand!
As long as you know what you want and don't mind waiting a couple of months.
I got an unused Kona Stuff for £320, a Marin Rocky Ridge that had been ridden twice, for £500, and my dad found a Marin Eldridge grade a few months old for £510.
give the bike a good checking over before you actually buy it. Try http://www.bikemagic.com/classifieds/se ... il&sp=&v=10 -

i would say a Cove stifee frame good finish and a nice stiff frame that handles every thing that get thrown at it. well worth the money0
