I did my usual Sunday run today but used clipless pedals for the first time. I now find that my upper legs are quite sore where before they would not be. Is there a different technique to be used when using clipless as opposed to straps?

As you are using different pedals and shoes your saddle may not be the correct height any longer. The soles of the shoe can be quite thick on composite shoes and you also have a cleat attatched. Too low a saddle position could cause some tiredness in the thighs.

(IMHO).....Sounds to me like Lactic Acid.....

You may need to do a Recovery Ride....(Mine: max speed 13-15mph, rpm: 75-85.....)...just a cruise to 'smell the roses'... 8)
