Hi, I've got a Hope Mini Up front and every time I put new pads in it squeels when in use and drags and vibrates (and squeels) when not in use, I know it just needs setting up but how? I've taken it to the LBS the last few time as the bike has required "other" work but now i want to know how they set the brake up.

Is it a matter of centering the caliper, or something as simple?

Please help before i ditch it and go back to V brakes or dig out the old Avid cable set up!!!
This is why!

Had a similar problem a few weeks back check here:

To centre the caliper loosen the allignment bolts where the caliper attatches to the mount, spin the wheel, pull brakes, then re-tighten bolts.

Ok then so post mount caliper fitting or IS fitting?

if it Post mount then adjust as per the mounting instructions. IE slacken the caliper to adapter bolts adjust and then tighten. rotating the wheel while applying some pressure on the lever can help.

  • Yep done all that as i had to ride the bike to work as the road bike had a puncture whilst sitting in the garage (as they do). All seems fine now, just need to make sure the road bike is well and then its fork strip time (yum).

    Thanks all...
