Can anyone suggest some budget bike carriers, i guess it will have to be the ones you stick at the back of the car as the roof mounted do cost a lot more.

With a rear carrier you may have to get a lighting board as well, if your number plate & lights are obscured.

With rear carriers your bike & car will get scratched & visibility out the back is reduced as well as access to the boot being a pain.

How many bikes can you fit onto the roof bars?

I've found some Mount Blanc roof racks and bike carriers which are on sale so might go for these. Is Mount Blanc a good make?

i have one similar to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-Bike-High-Rise- ... dZViewItem

its pretty basic - it would be for only £40 - but it does the job (i carry 2 bikes on mine - 3 would be very tight fit and possibly damage paint on frame). Because its high rise my lights and number plate are not obscured therefore i dont need a light board.
