Seems it's going to be in Essex...

Which I find a baffling choice, since the east side of London is easily the flattest. Obviously vested interests and "partner" deals are being allowed to overrule common sense - but what would you view as an acceptable trade-off between proximinty to the capital and quality of course?

North downs? Swinley? Chilterns? South Wales? North Wales? Scots Borders? Fort William?

Personally, I expect a sufficently challenging course could be managed somewhere in a 20 mile radius of the M25 - but I'll try to go and watch it wherever it is!

Yep Aston Hill / Chilterns would be the obvious choice 20 mins from the m25 up the a41 and easy access !!!

My back garden. Obvious really as we could stretch it to include a few laps of Cwmcarn and the surrounding hills.
Problem with carparking I suppose, although we could tarmac over Newport and use that.
If i remember the past few Olympics I don't think they have used a proper course, They have all looked really boring. Think how much attention was given to SKIPPY when he ran a few laps.

    Newnham Park.

OK, it's a bit far fromEssex, but who cares - it's got some of the best XC trails in the country. There won't be any issues about climbing (elevation or distance) either.
