Hi, i just got a SRAM X7 rear derailer and tried fitting it to my GT Aggressor and was baffled about the way you attach it to the frame! It screws in differently from the previous shimmano one and doesn't self secure itself!

Basically it swings back and fourth like its not tightened properly but it is and it doesn't seem damaged, am i doing something wrong? I can post pics if this helps?!

Cheers, J
I love the sound my tyres make on dusty single track!

it fits the same way but is not sprung, so fit as normal and then adjust.

    reading parktools might help.

  • i'll have a read, i think thats the problem, not sprung! There's long screws that you can adjust to move up to a bracket thing on it, is that what i use to adjust it then?! It looks much better than my old shimanno one!

yep that screw is used to position the top jockey wheel when the rest is set. You DO have a Sram shifter aswell?

  • i do have a sram shifter! well shifters but i haven't bought a front derailer yet, would i not be able to use the new rear mech with my existing shimmano shifter for the time being then?!
