Swapping Std to Compact?
'm sure this must have been covered here before but I can't find it!
I have been offered a Giant TCR Zero with DA set up 52/34, I think I need a compact set up as I come from MTB and new to road riding.
Can I just change the crankset or will the rear mech and front mech need to changed?
Sorry, if this has been covered here before

I've just this week swapped out my 'standard' Ultegra SL to a compact. Took less than 10minutes and didn't have to mess with any of the mechs....0

It will work with only changing the chainset but ideally you should lower the front mech slightly.0

Forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but before you change anything make sure you know what you will be getting. Do a little homework: you will find gear tables in most bike reviews in Cycle+ or Pro Cycling magazines or internet (this site), or - more fun - work it out yourself via the helpful website:

Then, armed with knowledge, you can enter the debate about whether a granny ring on a road bike is a sensible technical application, or something for wimps.
You may find that compact with a wide-range sprocket will give you nearly all you want at less cost for the change0
