Commuting bike for 300 quid!!

lad in work just sold his car and needs a bike to commute but theres one glitch..... he needs it for monday! So bein a nice bloke i've bin trying to look online for him so he can get the most for his money,but its doubtful to get one delivered for sunday, so halfords may be the only option :shock: . Can anyone recommend a bike that they may stock? i was thinkin completly rigid to get more for his money any suggestions? He'sbout 5' 8" bout 14 stone (muscle he'd say
