Bottom Bracket Size Help

Does anyone know the width of a Dahon Cadenza bottom bracket? It currently looks to have a Shimano type square taper bottom bracket in there, it's running a double chainset and is the older type of Cadenza before the eccentric bottom bracket.

The frame is 68mm and the width at the cranks looks to be 110-115mm. I can't tell for sure and I don't want to start taking it apart until I get a replacement ready. Any help with the width at the cranks would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gav.

We'd need to know the model of crank to be certain
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

The crank is a Sugino 39/53, it's not marked with any more detail than that.

I have been known to order ALL the possible sizes from say, chain reaction or wiggle (both of whom are good and quick with refunds) and then yank the BB. put the right one in and then return the rest.... for the cost of return postage etc you get the certainty that you'll have the BB and rapid turn around>

    Good luck,

  • Does the current BB not have its length marked on it.

It will have when I take it out, I was hoping to keep riding it until I get a replacement. I see that I will have to take it our though to make sure I get the right one.

You could remove the cranks and measure the length of the spindle to be sure - it's probably going to be in the region of 110mm looking at this:

I took it out and it was marked as 113.5mm. It was slightly loose on the chainset side so I've cleaned and greased the threads and reinserted it. It passed a short test ride without any noise so I'll give it a longer ride when I get time.
