Trek Fuel 98 - bin / sell or deny all knowledge?

Hello,
Got (inherited / had dumped on me) a 2004 Trek Fuel 98 frame with a Fox RP3 rear shock. Reasonable condition, could do with some paint and stuff round the bb and chainstays. Lots of quite nice carbon on it though. Structurally fine
So, do I try and flog this as it's been sitting in the garage with no love for a fair while (2004 frame), or do I build it up (would run XT gruppo, prob R7 or Reba fork) with parts I'd have to buy.
Alternatively, do I try and hide it behind the lawn mower, deny all knowledge and buy a new Whyte E120?
Any suggestions as to frame quality, kitting it out, etc would make me happy.
Ride relatively flat XC where the Olympics people said it wasn't good enough for mountain biking... (clue is the word 'mountain' and I believe these live oop north)
Thanks!!!

I'd build it up personally, I had a 2000 Trek Fuel 90 until recently and it was an awesome cross country machine with just enough travel to make descending a little more fun.
Ultimately descending was not fun enough and I replaced it with a Norco Six All-Mountain bike. I'm no longer in the running for first to the top of the hill, but do have time for tea and biscuits and a quick forty winks whilst I'm waiting at the bottom.
With the right kit I think the Fuel could be a worthy compatriot, and probably worth a lot more than you'll get for it on eBay.0 -
A long shot but do you still have this frame kicking around and want to flog it?
