Another clipless pedal question

Not wanting to hijack someone else's thread, what is 'float' when referring to clipless pedals?

    movement. rotational and or sideway. you could call it play but play is normally to do with wear.

    Okay so is float good or bad?

    Good.

    Allowing your foot some rotation prevents putting a strain on your knees. Very few people use pedals without any float.

    for example, look cleats come in three colours depending on float. they are available in:

    Black - 0 degree float (fixed)
    Grey - 4.5 degree float
    Red - 9 degree float
