Hi, firstly I'd like to apologize if i am wrong in writing on here asking about places to go, and not writing on the Rides section. but i feel my question fits better here..
so, in a few days i am off to the south downs with some mates to do some MTB, can anyone give me any advice on what its like down there? and also is there any good places that i should definitely go... or places i shouldn't
thank you
oh and also where is the best bike shop down there to go, if in need of repairs etc.
thank you
any help will be much appreciated

Hi chaps, the SDW is 108 miles long are you doing the lot albo? if not where are you going to be based? I've done the lot but my home turf is the patch between Devils Dyke and lewes which is mainly chalk and flint (leathal in the wet) and mud. There's plenty of bike shops in Brighton if thats the area your going to be in.0

Its not the most technical riding you will ever do, but there are some sweet climbs and very fast downhills. This web site http://www.bikedowns.co.uk/index.htm details most of the riding between Winchester and Southease. There are some useful gradient maps on there which will show you where the biggest hills are.0
