MTB tires

Hi,

3 months ago I got me a treck 4300 so that I would start riding again for health and pastime reasons. I have gotten completely hooked and ride every single day about 30km's. I have a problem though, my rear tires keep losing pressure and I have to change them once every 10-20 days.

The reason for this is most probably cos i keep jumping onto pavements and going down stairs, and most of the time at very unfriendly speeds (i get carried away), I also do some moderate off-road trails during the weekends. I keep the tire pressure between 55-60 psi (?), while on the tire itself it says the pressure should be between 45-65. While going up pavements I do my best to not smack the rear wheel but sometimes it happens.

Is there any advice for me to overcome this problem (good tubes, some riding strategy), or do I just have to ride my bike more conservatively, if in fact that is the problem?

thanks loads.
meh...

The pressures on sidewalls are maximum recommended pressures. Most folks run much lower than the maximum. Try 35-40psi on mixed trails, and 45 max on roads.

Check the valve-core is tight, if necessary nip it up using needle-nose pliers or a spoke wrench.
