I have just up-ended my panniers, and put back in what should be there. This has left:

A potato
A small tin of beans (these two were my lunch from yesterday but I was too busy)
A book I'd lost
An apple
Yesterday's guardian G2 section
about 50 packets of chewing gum that had haemorraged bits of gum all about he place
Some spare batteries
My head torch (also been looking for that)
A miniature of Southern Comfort I got given at christmas
My xbox memory card (also lost)

The bike seems so much lighter!

you mean you think you don't need the southern comfort?

Having in the past used panniers, I too have experience something similar. However yours Tardie was just brilliiiantly funny.

I now use the outer "rucksack" of an old hydration system to carry my worldly goods, there is a lot less space, so I don't carry so much, it promotes a frugal approach to luggage.

  • Since Christmas I gave up alcohol for a month (well 3 weeks), watched my diet and ramped up my exercising.

Now my commute is already some 14lbs lighter.

If there's a prize, can I have the southern comfort, tatty, beans, gum and also a big bar of toblerone?

    Please.

Btw, I had put the potato in there and forgotten about it... I mean, it didn't just appear!

Um, they are the universal panniers (the small ones you can put on the front). I never take them off the bike, though, so I generally keep putting things in and forgetting to take them out.

Possibly a wee rucsac would be better?

NB I have drank the souther comfort, it was very nice.

Isn't it easier just to eat a few less pies?

Although I had a haggis pizza (only in scotland) last week again, I was farting like a demon...
