Slight play in shimano flat pedals, ideas anyone?

i recently discovered a very small amount of play in my mx30 shimano pedals which can't be felt when riding but if i grip the pedal i can feel a small amount of play maybe 1/8 of a mm or so. i'm not sure if they came like this or it's develoved over the last 10 months of riding so i gave them a service.
pretty basic just like shimano hubs really but with more smaller bearings, i nipped them up snug and rolling free and packed everything in there with pedros syn grease. after tightening up the axle lock bolt back into the pedal there's still a bit of play there, no more and no less than what i had at the start. i can't really think why there should be play in them anyone have any ideas? they spin freely and feel fine under foot.
maybe the rubber seal between the lock bolt and the axle degrading?

is it the pedal or are you feeling play in the bb? whats the other side like?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yeah it's the pedal i felt it off the bike to be sure by gripping the axle with one hand and the pedal body with the other.
the drive side pedal has a tiny bit more play in it than the other side has.
hmm after a look around others have noticed play around the "plastic collar" mine is more like very plyable rubber so i guess it's worn out hopefully i can buy them somewhere?0 -
plastic collar? does it not have bearings?
what pedals."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

shimano pd mx30 bmx pedals.
24 tiny bearings per pedal,

the plastic seal will have no effect on play. i can only guess that yiou are not locking the lock nut and small race correctly."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ahh ok i'll give it another go, cheers Nick.0

yeehaaa well that's the right one fixed i guess it just needed a few more degrees tightening on the bearings, pesky little buggers they are almost microscopic heh, thanks alot Nick

There might have to be a tiny amount of end float on the bearings. dont overtighten them!I never touched it! It was broke when I got here.0

and that's the left pedal done, both now spinning more freely without any play. i was treating them like hubs and snugging them up then loosening them off a bit which caused the play again, instead i just snugged them until the race? started feeling a little grindy then backed off until free again.0

you must remember that the hub then has a compresing force added to it in the form of the Qr or other clamp, which adds the last bit to the bearings."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
