Vibrating frame - disk brake problems

I'm having problems with my rear hydraulic disk brake (Magura Julie brakes on a Merlin Malt1). Whenever I apply medium levels of pressure to the brakes I get a squeeling sound and the whole frame vibrates. I've owned the bike for about a year and a half now, but this has only started happening in the last 3 months or so.

At first I thought it might be contaminated pads, but having swapped out the old pads for new ones I'm still getting exactly the same problem.

Does anybody have any idea what's going wrong?

have a look in the FAQ section of the MTB forum there is a topic on squeeky brakes,

    either contaminated or worn pads.

As I said, I thought so myself.

The pads that are in there now are new and clean. It's made no difference.

you did make sure the rotor was not contaminated before fitting the new pads? a good cleaning with meths. As if the pads were contamintated before so would have been the disc.

Other posibilities are the pads not sitting flush with the pistions ´but as happened with the old....

the caliper is aligned? the pads have had time to bed in?

    the pads are? material make?

you could also try using an abrasive on the rotor (emery cloth or some "Wet and Dry" it can help.

  • Mine were doing that as well, I cleaned the rotor with isopropyl alcohol and it seemed to cure the problem

I changed the pads and cleaned the rotor with acetone.

    Still doing it.

Tried adjusting the position of the callipers in case they weren't aligned properly.

    Still doing it.

    So, so frustrating!
