what would be considered the best race tyres?

What do most ride on, i ride alone and dont really get to chat to other cyclist about subjects like this, i have found that continental gp4000 seem to be popular along with mitchelin pro race etc are these classed as good tyres?

any help appreciated

These Panaracers are nice. Used by Milram on the tdf.

I think both of those tyres are awesome... with tyres you mostly get what you pay for in lightness & improved puncture resistance...
