singal speed or Gears ??

hello
i don’t know ether to go signal speed or gears. i use one bike for the following dirt jump freeride street and downhill and im thinking of tring 4X. So can any one give me some tips and reasons why one is better than the other

    depends on you're preference, if you have a hardtail it is a good idea to get singlespeed as gear hangers and derailleurs always get smashed. if you have a full sus, i recommend a chain device on the front and 9 gears on the back because the tracking through the travel might affect the tension of the chain. you can try single speed by trying to stay in one gear which you would be happy with. you can can stay there for a few weeks and live with it, i don't see any reason why you shouldn't choose singlespeed.
