???? Seat clamp sizes ????

Hi guys, quick question I hope...

What size seatclamp do I need for a 2007 Marin Rocky Ridge?

The seatpost and seat tube are 30.9mm.

Been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out! Any help much appreciated.

    If a steel frame then I'd guess at 31.8mm. What size clamp front mech you got? Usually this gives you a good idea of seatclamp size, or rather used to till the arrival of multifit front mechs.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Its not a steel frame. The Rocky Ridge is an Alu frame.

    Alu frame gotta be 34.9mm then

    with respect dude, are you sure? Seems big for a 30.9 seat tube?

    There are 3 common sizes of seatclamp. 28.6mm, 31,8mm & 34.9mm. Grab a tape measure/ruler and get an approximate measurement. Or measure the diameter with your fingers and walk down to your LBS and show them the size :roll:

    it's 34.9mm

    My IFT has a 31.6mm post and 34.9mm clamp

    My Attack Trail has 30.9mm post and a 34.9mm clamp

    It's not going to be 31.8mm and certainly not 28.6mm

    I'm 99.999999% sure of this EasyG... :wink:

    Thanks Cheesy and thanks Redvee - I wasn't doubting you mate it is just that a Salsa Lip Lock seat clamp in Green is £16.99 plus £3 postage and I won't be able to test the bloody thing without getting it out of the packaging, and thus wouldn't be able to return it!! AAARRGGHHH! £20 is £20, its not a massive amount of money, but the trouble and strife would insert it up my ar5e if I got lumbered with it!

    Anyway, we'll go for it at 34.9mm.
